Our recommendation process

How we choose the right brand for your home

We don't push a single brand. What we recommend depends on your specific situation — these are the factors we weigh.

Your room and home
Size, ceiling height, insulation, humidity exposure, and orientation all affect which brand and model will perform best in your specific space.
How you'll use it
Bedrooms need quiet operation above all else. Allergy households benefit from better filtration. Smart home users need strong WiFi integration. Usage drives the recommendation.
Your budget
We'll tell you what the premium buys you and whether it's worth it for your situation. Sometimes the mid-range option is genuinely the right choice.
Running costs
A more efficient unit costs more upfront but less to run. We factor in projected running costs so you can compare the true total cost, not just the purchase price.
Warranty and support
How long the manufacturer warranties the unit, how accessible parts are in New Zealand, and whether local service support is readily available all affect long-term ownership.
Subsidy eligibility
Not all models qualify for the Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy. If you're eligible, we select from approved models — which still covers most of the premium range.
Government subsidy

Up to $3,450 off — regardless of brand

The Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy applies to eligible installations across all our accredited brands. We handle the application as part of every installation.

$3,450

Maximum subsidy for eligible homeowners

Available to owner-occupiers of homes built before 2008. Community Services Card holders qualify for an 80% subsidy; other eligible homeowners receive 66%. We confirm your eligibility during the free assessment and deduct the subsidy from your invoice directly.
