Accredited installer — full range

Panasonic heat pumps in Papatoetoe & South Auckland

We're accredited Panasonic installers — one of three brands we're fully certified for. Panasonic is the only one of our accredited brands that supports Apple HomeKit natively, and consistently achieves some of the lowest noise ratings in the residential market.

About the brand

Quietest operation and the only brand with Apple HomeKit

Panasonic has been manufacturing heat pumps since the 1970s and brings deep engineering experience to their residential range. In New Zealand, they're particularly noted for low noise output — some models achieve 18dB indoors, making them the quietest available across the three brands we install.

The standout differentiator is smart home integration. Panasonic's Comfort Cloud app supports Apple HomeKit natively — the only one of our three accredited brands to do so. If you use an iPhone and already have other HomeKit devices, Panasonic integrates cleanly. Google Home and Amazon Alexa are also supported.

Their nanoe-X technology is a proprietary air purification system built into most current residential models. It generates hydroxyl radicals that inhibit bacteria, viruses, and allergens in the air — a practical feature for households with allergy sufferers, and particularly relevant near East Tamaki's industrial environment.

Brand strengths

Where Panasonic performs well

An honest assessment of where Panasonic genuinely differentiates from the other two brands we install.

Lowest noise — genuinely
Panasonic's Z series and CS-Z models start from 18dB — quieter than the equivalent Mitsubishi Electric and Daikin models at the same capacity. This is a measurable, verified difference, not marketing language. For light sleepers or bedrooms in close-set South Auckland homes, it's a real practical advantage.
Apple HomeKit — exclusive to Panasonic
Of the three brands we install, Panasonic is the only one that supports Apple HomeKit natively via the Comfort Cloud adaptor. If you use iPhone and have other HomeKit devices — smart lights, locks, sensors — Panasonic integrates cleanly into that ecosystem. Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric do not support HomeKit.
nanoe-X air purification
Panasonic's proprietary nanoe-X technology generates hydroxyl radicals that actively inhibit bacteria, viruses, mould, allergens, and odours — not just filters them out. Most current residential models include it. Relevant for households with allergy sufferers, or homes near East Tamaki's industrial area where air quality is a consideration.
Self-cleaning function
Several Panasonic models include an internal self-cleaning cycle that dries out the indoor unit's heat exchanger after operation, inhibiting mould and bacteria growth between services. This reduces the musty startup smell that develops in units that aren't maintained well — useful for Auckland's humid environment.
Comfort Cloud app
WiFi is built into most current Panasonic models via the CZ-TACG1 adaptor or integrated on newer units. The Comfort Cloud app handles remote control, scheduling, energy monitoring, and multi-room control from a single interface. Works alongside HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa simultaneously.
Efficiency across the range
Panasonic's energy efficiency ratings are strong and consistent across the residential range — comparable to Daikin, ahead of most budget alternatives. The combination of high efficiency and low running noise makes them particularly well-suited to bedrooms where the unit runs overnight.
Honest assessment

Where Panasonic leads — and where to consider alternatives

We recommend the right brand for each situation. Here's where Panasonic is the strongest fit, and where the other two brands may serve you better.

Panasonic is a strong choice when…
Apple HomeKit is required — Panasonic is the only accredited brand that supports it
Absolute quietest operation is the priority — the 18dB rating is the lowest available
Air quality is a concern — nanoe-X actively inhibits bacteria, viruses, and allergens
Bedroom installation where overnight noise matters
You want all three major voice assistants — HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa all supported
Consider Mitsubishi or Daikin if…
Parts availability and the widest service network matters most — Mitsubishi Electric is the most installed brand in NZ
Humidity handling is the primary concern — Mitsubishi Electric has a slight edge on dehumidification
Simplest built-in WiFi setup is preferred — Daikin's is slightly more plug-and-play than Panasonic's adaptor-based system on some models
Geofencing is wanted — available on Daikin but not all Panasonic models
Common questions

Panasonic questions answered

Does the Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy apply to Panasonic heat pumps?
+
Yes — the subsidy applies to any qualifying heat pump from an EECA-approved installer, regardless of brand. Eligibility is based on your home and circumstances. As EECA-approved providers we check your eligibility and handle the full application at no charge — up to $3,450 off for qualifying households. See our subsidies page for details.
How does Panasonic's Apple HomeKit support work?
+
Panasonic supports HomeKit via the CZ-TACG1 WiFi adaptor or built-in on newer models. Once connected, your Panasonic heat pump appears as a device in the Apple Home app — you can control it by voice via Siri, include it in automations (e.g. "when I arrive home, set lounge to 20°C"), and manage it alongside other HomeKit devices. This is the only way to get HomeKit support from a heat pump brand we're accredited for.
What is nanoe-X and does it actually work?
+
nanoe-X is Panasonic's air purification technology. It generates hydroxyl radicals (OH radicals) that react with and break down bacteria, viruses, allergens, mould spores, and odours at a molecular level. It's distinct from standard filtration — filtration physically traps particles, nanoe-X actively neutralises them. Panasonic provides independent test data on effectiveness. It runs continuously during operation on supported models. It's a genuine differentiator, not just a marketing badge.
How does Panasonic compare to Mitsubishi Electric for South Auckland homes?
+
Both are strong. Panasonic has the edge on noise levels and smart home integration (especially if you use Apple devices). Mitsubishi Electric has the edge on humidity handling and the broader service network across NZ. For most South Auckland residential installations the difference is genuinely small — the right choice depends on which specific features matter to you. We'll give you an honest recommendation at the site assessment.
Do you service Panasonic heat pumps you didn't install?
+
Yes — we service and repair Panasonic heat pumps regardless of who installed them. Parts are available and we're familiar with the full current range. See our servicing page and repairs page for detail.
